Overview Buckreef Gold Company is a joint venture between TRX Gold Corporation through its subsidiary, TRX Gold Tanzania and the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) which holds a 45% stake and the investor, TRX Gold holding a 55% stake. TRX Gold Corporation is a Canadian based gold mining investor listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchange.
The Buckreef Gold Project is located in Geita District, south of Lake Victoria, approximately 110 km southwest of Mwanza. It is strategically positioned about 45 km west of Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu gold mine and nearly 35 km south of AngloGold Ashanti’s flagship Geita mine in north-central Tanzania.
Regional Infrastructure Due to the region’s rich history in gold mining, Buckreef benefits from robust infrastructure critical to mining operations. The project area is accessible via a ferry across Smiths Sound, followed by a tarred national road and well-maintained unpaved regional roads. Additionally, the Buckreef Gold Project is nearly entirely powered by hydro-electricity, connected to the local electric grid, underscoring our commitment to sustainability.
Buckreef Gold Project The Buckreef Project encompasses five key prospects: Buckreef, Bingwa, Tembo, Eastern Porphyry, and Anfield. It includes three main mineralized zones: Buckreef South, Buckreef Main, and Buckreef North. Fully licensed for mining and gold extraction, the Buckreef Gold Project operates with a strong focus on maximizing resource efficiency and sustainability.
